3RD UPMINSTER CUB PROGRAMME

Winter Term 2006
January 2006
Wed 11th Games Night-and welcome back.
Sun 15th Church Parade – 10.45 in the Cub Hall.
Wed 18th Burning Bridges. This is an exercise in building a tower
that needs to be pushed under a string rope bridge that then burns
through and breaks! It tests your knots and judgment. Marks for
building/operating and execution and being first.
Wed 25th Indoor assault course! We will make a course around the
hall, thereby each Cubs needs to under take a physical task. Laser
string/under a tarpaulin/blind trail/mat jumping, over a ladder
etc.
Feb 2006
Wed 1st Paper Towers. Please start to save your news papers and
bring them along for this week. We will be making a world famous
tower. (no names yet as I want to see the outcome.)
Sun 12th Church Parade 10.45 in the hall-please make an effort to
attend. It is all part of being a Cub Scout.
Wed 15th Creative Badge is to be undertaken: Plan and act out a
play mime. Make an IT card for Easter on the computers in the Den.
A poster on cub Scouts. Make a bird box. (may finish off over a
Saturday or Sunday).
Wed 22nd As above.
March 2006-
Wed 1st Pancake Day. Assemble the gas cookers and mix the flour
eggs and water. Cook and eat as many as you can!
The Global Challenge Badge. See the 8th for details and action.
Saturday 4th Swimming Gala at Harrow Lodge Park pool. 6.30 For a
7 start. 4 boys from this side and 4 from Livingstone pack. Beavers
and Scouts to attend. Winners go through to the county finals on
the 11th. Cubs to be selected.
Wed 8th Global Challenge, Recycling dos and don’ts. Poster
for saving water power etc, Please save your tin cans was we want
to make a 6ft tin man. (who gets recycled).

Sat 11th Hockey evening in the hall. 4pm to 7pm. We want to play
another pack. Followed by a simple tea. Please bring £2.
Sun 12th Church Parade 10.45 sharp. At the hall.
Wed 15th Night Hike from the top end of South Weald Park (Coxie
Green road) entrance to the park. And pick up from the South side
of the park by the cricket club. See map. To start at 6.30 and pick
up at 8 to 8.15. Please bring a drink and a waterproof.
22nd Circus acts and tumbling.
25th Archery event at Thriftwood, plus badge day to obtain 5 badges.
10am to 4 pm Bring a pack lunch and £5 attend. There is a
tuck shop as well.
29th Skating: There is a badge for cubs that can skate. Please bring
in your inline skates/skate boards/roller skates or any thing on
wheels! A test of safety, skill and speed.
April 2006
12th Start back at cubs with a games night.
Notes
- Mark Duffy has kindly stepped into leading the pack as an Assistant
Leader.
- Cub book of badges £3.50 see Bagheera.
- Group tee shirts are to be re-order
- Can we have the sponsor money from the Swim- We have raised £75.00
so far.
- 11th June Cubs are 90 years old-so we are having a party at Gillwell.
Better details to follow. There may be 1000 cubs there.
- Did your bulbs grow from last term- - Uniform: You must have full uniform each week. Any Cub turning
up from next week without full uniform will be sent home! Mums please
help us to look smart. If you have a problem with this please let
us know.
- Subs are £29 with cheques being payable to 3rd Upminster
Scout Group.
- Please sign up the Standing order form.
- We are looking for new helpers or leaders so this is a good time
to assist all the boys in the Cubs/Scouts. Please let me know if
you are interested- - 3rd Upminster T-shirts are still available, see Bagheera (£8)
- If you have any ideas or events for the cubs please let us know.
