2002 AGM Minutes

Agreed as correct at the 2003 AGM:

Minutes of Annual General Meeting
of the 3rd Upminster Scout Group Council
held on Friday 5th July 2002
at Upminster Methodist Church
Chair - Mr Gordon Reed

Attendance

Attendance list not available, approximately 60 leaders, representatives and parents were in attendance.

1. Welcome

All were welcomed to the meeting by Gordon Reed (Group Chairman) and he explained the Group's basis and relationship with our 2 church sponsors.

2. Apologies for absence

Apologies were received from Mr Dan Aherne (Assistant Group Scout Leader)

3. Minutes of last meeting

The minutes for 2000 were not available at the 2001 AGM and were presented and approved. The minutes for 2001 were not available.

4. Matters arising

There were no matters arising from 2000 and the 2001 minutes were unavailable.

5. Group Executive Committee Report

i. Group Scout Leaders Report

Peter Ager suggested visiting the excellent displays from each section presented in 'The Den'. They covered the whole group and gave a good indication on how we were progressing. As ever the leadership situation is still the biggest problem, with the Scout Troop still in great difficulty. The bottom line was we need more support. We had done well in District competitions winning both the District Swimming Gala and the District Scout Marathon.

ii. Group Chairman's Report

Gordon Reed stated that without our good and committed leaders we would not be able to achieve such positive results.

iii. Group Treasurer's Report

Bob Humphries reported that the account for 2001-2002 were available if people wished to view them. Overall we made a £1200 loss (this included the 75 anniversary camp costs), but the previous year we had made a similar gain therefore over the whole period we have been stable. Bob expressed his thanks to Mike Robinson for arranging the Gift Aid scheme and we have now received our first payment. The Gift Aid scheme was briefly explained by Gordon. There were to be no changes to the subscription fees this year.

6. Nomination and Election of Officers

Group Chairman - Gordon Reed re-elected
Group Secretary - Sally Hayes re-elected (in her absence)
Group Treasurer - Bob Humphries re-elected
